This time we are going to Buda Castle to be part of the great national wine festival. Can you think of a better place to celebrate a new edition of this annual festival?
Local, national and international producers will pass through here. From large, well-known wine and champagne cellars to local producers with small productions but with a lot to say, thanks to their good work.
It is one of the most important events of the year for the city, which has grown in size and importance since its first edition was held in 1992 in Vörösmarty square.
Don’t miss this great wine festival where everyone is invited and where you are sure to discover your new favourite wine.
We continue touring Budapest, but this time we are going to discover its best street markets where you can spend hours mesmerised by the little treasures that you will undoubtedly find among the numerous stalls.
We couldn’t start with any other than the Ecseri flea market, located at Nagykőrösi u. 156. It is the largest flea market in Budapest and, of course, one of the busiest and most popular.
Open every day and on the outskirts of the historic city centre in the southern part of the city, this flea market is a real paradise for antique hunters and collectors.
It’s worth a visit both for the atmosphere and for what you can find there. From antique portraits to vintage cameras, porcelain figurines to old postcards. Soak up the real atmosphere of everyday Budapest.
Budaörsi u. 172-178
In the west of the city, in the Buda part of town, the Budaörs flower market is transformed on weekends into a treasure-lover’s market.
Here you’ll find a wide variety of goods for the size of the place. From second-hand books to clothes, as well as curiosities and things you didn’t even know existed. Plus, you can even try something to take with you.
Madárdomb Köz, 1173
We are going to cross the whole city before strolling through its most central areas, this time we move to the east of Pest, where this second-hand flea market takes place, full of opportunities.
As with the Budai Zsibvásár flea market, we must highlight the quantity and density of products on offer considering the size of the market. A visit will always exceed your expectations.
Balassa Bálint u. 2-10
Next to the Bakancsos Piac flea market is Lőrinczi, a street market with a really interesting range of products.
In addition to second-hand clothes and books, which are more or less common in this type of market, you’ll find coins, figurines, paintings, antique toys and even porcelain figurines.
To complete the experience, you’ll find several stalls offering typical Hungarian food, as long as you don’t go on Mondays, which is the only day it closes.
Klauzál tér 11
We arrived at a covered flea market much closer to the historic centre. In fact, you’ll be able to enjoy the Jewish quarter as soon as you come out of the stalls.
It’s not as big as some of the markets we’ve already mentioned, its prices can be a little higher than the others, but they’re not too high, of course, and they offer a good range of watches, jewellery, figurines and antiques.
Another reason to come is the beauty of the building that covers the market, which is only open on Sundays.
Király u. 13
We are still in the heart of the Jewish Quarter and just a few steps from the synagogue on Rumbach Street. This lively weekend flea market offers a wide range of costume jewellery, such as earrings, pendants and rings.
You’ll also find postcards, posters, clothes, paintings and gifts to take home. It’s one of the places where you’ll feel like you’re in a real bazaar. And when you’re done, you’re in the perfect area for snacks and snacks, with the best kosher restaurants all around you.
Kazinczy u. 14
We’ve saved one of our favourites for last. Every Sunday you’ll have the chance to stop by this flea market with the soul of a dive bar.
A perfect place to discover the real taste of Budapest food, with stalls full of local food options, as well as fresh and organic produce.
Good atmosphere, background music and lots of food, in one of everyone’s favourite places. In the Szimpla and next to Karavan, what more could you ask for?
